The Costs of a Water Cooler

If you’ve decided that you want all the benefits of a water cooler in your home or office, then you might be wondering how much it will cost you before you make your decision. Let’s look at some of the initial and ongoing costs of water coolers or dispensers.

Initial purchase or rental costs

Your first cost is going to be the initial purchase of the water cooler, which can either be done on a rental basis or by buying it outright. Whether you should buy or rent your water cooler will depend on a number of factors, particularly whether you want it for the long-term or just for a trial period.

Prices will vary greatly between different suppliers and depending on the features of the dispenser you choose. At Mountain Park Spring Water, you can purchase a new water cooler for $225 or a used one for $90, or go for the rental option for $84.95 per year. Or, our point-of-use filtration systems cost $39.95 per month with a $100 installation fee.

Cost of accessories

There are certain water cooler accessories that you might need, although these are not compulsory for the use or running of your cooler. The most common accessories that people order are disposable cups for dispensing the water into and storage racks for storing large bottles of water.

We sell storage racks of various sizes and disposable cups of different materials and sizes. You can find out more about the costs and specifications of these accessories here.

Running costs

The running costs of a water dispenser cover different things depending on the type of dispenser. Of course, you’ll have to factor in the cost of electricity if you choose an electrical water dispenser. If you choose a water cooler that connects to the main water supply, then you’ll also have to consider the impact this has on your water costs. Or if you get a bottled water dispenser, then you’ve got the costs of the bottled water itself. See the prices of our bottled water delivery service for an idea of how much this will cost you.

Repair and maintenance costs

When you have a rental agreement for your water cooler, repair and maintenance is usually included in your monthly or annual fees. Make sure to check with your supplier first to find out if this is the case. This can save you money in the long-run on regular servicing. Our annual lease program covers all servicing and repairs, and we even replace your dispenser with a new, freshly sanitized one each year.
