What is Point-of-Use Water Filtration?

Point-of-use water filtration systems are an excellent solution for providing your home or office with fresh, filtered water where and when you need it. But, what exactly is the difference between point-of-use systems and all the other kinds of water filters, coolers, and dispensers.

This article will guide you through the world of point-of use, explaining what they are and what kind of benefits they can give you.

What is it?
A point-of-use water filtration system connects to your water mains, supplying you with filtered water drawn directly from your home or office’s existing water supply. They are installed at a single point where the water is required for use.

Point-of-use systems are often confused with the similar point-of-entry filtration systems, but these are typically used to service the whole house or building with filtered water, rather than at a single point. For more on the difference between these two systems, take a look at this article.

The benefits of point-of-use water filtration
There are a number of benefits of installing a point-of-use water filtration system in your home and office.

For starters, they eliminate the need for large bottles of water that are used to supply water to traditional water dispensers and coolers. This means you don’t have to take the effort to carry heavy bottles of water around to refill your system, or pay someone else to deliver them for you. It also means you don’t need to dispose of these plastic bottles, which can cause waste.

Compared to point-of-entry systems, point-of-use filtration is more economical as they are only connected to a single source. This is ideal for less extensive water needs; for use in a single room, for example. This also means they are easier to install than point-of-entry systems.

This kind of system also uses advanced filtration methods to ensure that the water delivered to your home or office is clean, fresh, and tastes great. So, you can ensure that you and your family or staff are benefiting from water delivery that’s clear of all contaminants.

At Mountain Park Spring Water, we ensure that your filtration system and the water it delivers remains clean and fresh by cleaning the unit and changing its filters every 6 months. If you are interested in our point-of-use filtration systems and the quality customer service that comes with them, then get in touch for spring water delivery services around Virginia and New Hampshire. We proudly serve Winston Salem, Greensboro, High Point, Kernersville, Danville, and Martinsville.

How to Choose a Water Delivery Service

Having fresh, spring water delivered to your home and office is a great, convenient way to keep yourself and your family or employees well hydrated. And the benefits of drinking water and staying hydrated are numerous. But, how do you choose from the many water delivery services that are out there?

Here are our tips on how to choose a water delivery service.

Discover your options
The best thing to do first is look for water delivery services that are local to you and create a list of potential options. All this requires is a quick search of “water delivery service + (your location)”, e.g. “water delivery service Virginia”. Make a list of all the top results that come up that you want to consider.

Do your research
Know you’ve got your options, it’s time to do some further research into each one to compare their services. Here are a few key things you should look for when researching each company:

Price – Price shouldn’t be your only determining factor, but it is worth noting the price of each company so that you can compare them based on the value for money they offer.Reviews + testimonials – What do their past and present customers think of their service? Look for any customer testimonials on their website or reviews on their social media pages or online review sites such as Yelp. Customer opinion should be a good reflection of the quality of their service.Quality of water – You want to make sure you’re getting the freshest, best quality water from your water delivery service, so look on their website for any information about the source of their water and the water purification process they use.

Once you’ve gathered this information for each company, and any other information you think is important, you can effectively compare their services against each other to decide which is best for you. Think about what your main priorities are and evaluate which company matches those the best. For example, you might think positive customer reviews are the most important and would be willing to pay a higher price for a service that has good feedback.

Once you’ve decided on your top choice (or two) get in touch with them to discuss the terms of the contract and make sure that everything suits your needs.

When to Clean Your Water Dispenser

Using a bottled water dispenser gives you access to water that is fresher and cleaner than that which you can get out of the tap. But, what if you don’t look after your water dispenser properly? Bacteria could build up inside the water dispenser, completely defeating the point of having one in the first place as you will be drinking contaminated water. So, keeping your water dispenser clean and sanitary is incredibly important.
How often should you clean your water dispenser?
It is recommended that your water dispenser be thoroughly cleaned and sanitized every 6-12 months. When you purchase a bottled water dispenser from us, we come out to your location every 6 months to completely sanitize the interior of the dispenser and clean the outside of the dispenser, as well. Although water filters can last up to a year, we also replace your filters every 6 months to ensure that you still have access to high quality water.
Keeping your water clean between visits
In the 6 months between servicing of your water dispenser, there are certain things you can do to prevent the build-up of bacteria and contamination of your water.
Keep the dispenser out of the sun
Placing your water bottle in the line of direct sunlight can cause algae to grow inside the container, which can contaminate your drinking water. It will still be safe to drink, but won’t be as fresh or as pleasant tasting.
Try to keep your water dispenser in a shaded area away from direct sunlight or fluorescent light. If this isn’t possible, you can also purchase a bottle cover for your dispenser.
Replace, don’t refill
It can be tempting to simply refill an empty water bottle at the main tap rather than replacing it with a new one. However, this can lead to bacteria from the tap contaminating the bottle and the water you fill it up with, especially if done repeatedly.
Wash before changing bottles
One of the biggest causes of contamination is when the bottle is being changed. It’s important that the person changes the bottle thoroughly cleans their hands before handling the equipment. Otherwise, bacteria can get caught inside the tap or the bottle itself, in turn contaminating the water.

Hydrate to Beat Spring Allergies

For anyone who suffers from pollen allergies, the emergence of warmer and brighter spring days is bittersweet. It also signals the start of runny noses, itchy eyes, and constant sneezing. You might resort to allergy medication, wearing large sunglasses wherever you go, or simply staying indoors as much as possible.

But, there is a better way! Hydration could be the key to reducing your allergy symptoms.

How staying hydrated can fight allergies
We know that dehydration has a lot of negative effects on the body, but did you know that it can also intensify your allergies? If you’re not properly hydrated, then your body’s response to pollen can be more severe, resulting in more coughing, sneezing, and other allergy symptoms.

This is mostly down to a compound in your body called histamine. Your body releases histamine as a response to allergens, causing the associated symptoms. This is why we take antihistamines as allergy medicine.

Histamine is also responsible for regulating your body’s water levels. When you don’t get enough water, extra histamine is produced to trigger your thirst response, letting you know that you need to drink more water. So, if you’re thirsty, there will be more histamine present in your body. This means there’s more histamine to be released when you come into contact with pollen.

Staying well hydrated keeps the levels of histamine in your body to a minimum, helping to control your body’s response to allergens such as pollens and, therefore, making your symptoms less severe. It’s important that you know how to spot the signs of dehydration so that you can actively fight against your allergy symptoms by staying hydrated.

The best way to stay hydrated
Getting enough water throughout the day can be a challenge, especially when you’re busy with work and other things. The best and most convenient way to stay hydrated and avoid allergy symptoms is to have a cold-water dispenser installed at your home and office. This way, you always have fresh water on hand when you need it.

If you are interested in having a water dispenser and spring water delivery service around North Carolina and Virginia, then we can help. Actively fight dehydration and spring allergies by contacting Mountain Park SpringWater, serving Winston Salem, Greensboro, and High Point, NC, as well as Martinsville and Danville, VA.

4 Myths About Bottled Water Delivery

There are a number of myths out there about bottled water delivery that might be putting you off using a water delivery service. Well, we’re here to dispel those myths and let everyone know the truth about bottled water delivery.

Myth #1 – It’s only for offices
I think this first myth has probably come from that common image of office workers gathering around the water cooler to share the latest gossip about their boss and co-workers. But, bottled water delivery is definitely not just for offices. It’s a great service to employ for your home as a way to keep you and your family hydrated with clean, fresh water, without having to constantly be buying bottled water from the store and carrying it home yourself. You also don’t have to worry about being home to collect each delivery. You can just leave your empty bottles in a safe place for us to collect and replace them with fresh bottles.

Myth #2 – I don’t drink enough water to make it worthwhile
First of all, if you believe this myth, then you probably need to drink more water! Drinking plenty of water throughout the day helps to keep you happy and healthy, and having a water delivery service can help prompt you to drink more. Secondly, it probably isn’t true anyway. You’ll probably be surprised by how much water you actually go through in a day, even if you’re not drinking it. The water you use for cooking and making hot drinks all adds up.

Myth #3 – It’s too expensive
We get why you might think this but, fortunately, it’s just not true. The average home or office spends less than $25 per month for our bottled water delivery service, and you get great service and reliable maintenance along with it. You can tailor your service to meet your needs, so you don’t need to pay for more than you use. For example, a 3-gallon bottle of purified water costs just $6.15. If you’re consuming lots of water, then our bulk pricing can save you money. Check out our example costs to find out how much you’d be spending.

Myth #4 – They just deliver water
Sure, it’s called a bottled water delivery service, but we can also provide you with the systems needed to keep your water clean, fresh, and at the temperature you want. So, as well as delivering fresh water to you, we also sell, install, and maintain machines such as water filters, dispensers, and water coolers. Signs of Dehydration

The adult human body is made up of around 60% water, on average. This staggering figure shows us how important water is to keeping us healthy and functioning properly. Why is water so important to us and how do you know if you’re getting enough? Read on to find out all the facts about water and hydration.

The function of water in the body
All of the cells in our body contain water. If we don’t provide our body with enough water, these cells are unable to function correctly. Water is also vital for a range of bodily functions. For example, saliva is responsible for a great amount of the digestion process through the enzymes it contains. If you’ve ever had a dry mouth when you’re thirsty, then you can probably guess that not getting enough water means that your body can’t produce as much saliva, which impacts digestion.

Water is also used for regulating the body’s temperature. When we get too hot, we sweat. It is the process of sweat evaporating from our skin that cools our body’s down in extreme temperatures. Without water, we would not be able to produce sweat and, therefore, would overheat.

How to tell if you’re dehydrated
Dehydration can cause a variety of side effects, ranging from minor to severe depending on the severity of dehydration. Here are some of the symptoms to look out for as warnings that you’re not getting enough water.

Feeling thirstyHeadachesLight-headednessA dry mouthDarker-colored urineLess frequent urinationDry skinLow energy

These are all fairly moderate signs that you need to increase your water intake. More severe dehydration can cause worse symptoms such as confusion, and irregular pulse, and even seizures. Serious conditions such as kidney failure or heart conditions can develop as a result of extreme or prolonged cases of dehydration.

Tips for staying hydrated
I’m sure you don’t want to experience any of the above symptoms, so what can you do to keep dehydration at bay? Breathing, sweating, and going to the toilet are all constant causes of water loss, so we need to replace the water that we lose.

Health professionals commonly recommend drinking 8 cups of water per day. If you’re exercising, then you will need to drink even more to counteract intense sweating. This may sound like a challenge, but carrying bottled water around with you, and keeping bottled water at your desk at work can make it easier to get as much water as you need. Buying a water dispenser for the office is another great way to keep everyone hydrated at work.

Electric vs Non-Electric Water Dispensers

There are lots of different choices when it comes to buying or renting a water dispenser. You’re sure to find one that suits your needs, whether you’re looking for a home or office water service. This is important when you think about how important water is in our lives. One key decision you need to make is whether to go for an electric water dispenser or a non-electric one.

Electric water dispensers
When it comes to functionality, electric water dispensers are top of the list. Many models are available that act as a water cooler and heater, too. They provide you with hot and cold water from separate taps, not just room temperature water. Dispensers can also have filtration systems to ensure that the water you’re drinking is clean.

If you’re worried about the cost of your electricity bill rising, you might be surprised at how much a water dispenser can save you. Just think about how often you boil the kettle or how long you spend boiling water on the stove. Having hot water readily available from a handy dispenser can prove to be much more energy efficient. It will also save you money on regularly buying bottled water too.

Electric water dispensers can be plumbed into your water supply, giving you a constant supply of filtered water without the hassle of changing water bottles out on a regular basis.

Non-electric water dispensers
While non-electric water dispensers might not have all the bells and whistles of electric ones, they have many benefits. They’re compact and easy to transport, so they’re ideal for taking on vacation with you. Since they don’t require electricity either, they’re even perfect for camping trips, providing you with a reliable source of clean water wherever you are.

Non-electric dispensers can also be easier to clean and maintain, as you don’t have to worry about the dangers of electricity when you’re washing them. You can read our tips on how to care for your water dispenser if you need help with this.

If you’re shopping on a tight budget, then non-electric water dispensers are a great option. They’re cheaper to purchase and require less money to run. As they don’t use electricity, non-electric water dispensers are also better for the environment, and they make much less noise than electric ones.

Made your mind up? Check out the range of electric and non-electric water dispensers we offer. These are all available alongside our spring water delivery service within the Winston-Salem, Greensboro, and High Point areas of North Carolina, plus locations in Virginia.

Why You Need a Hot Water Dispenser for Your Office

We’ve previously looked at how water coolers in offices help to boost productivity among other benefits. In this blog, we’re looking at the other side of the water dispensing coin – hot water dispensers. Could your office benefit from installing a hot water dispenser? Let’s look at some of the advantages of installing one.
How do hot water dispensers work?
A hot water dispenser is connected to your mains water source. When you turn on the tap, water travels into the machine. Here, it is filtered and then heated by the heating element of your hot water dispenser. This process is much faster than that of boiling water in a kettle. Hot or boiling water will then come out of the tap that regular water normally comes from. This process takes just a few seconds, providing almost instant hot, filtered water delivery.
It will save employees time
We’ve already said how quickly a hot water dispenser takes. Now, think about the number of times employees boil the kettle during the work day, for cups of tea and coffee or for cooking their lunch. Using a hot water dispenser instead could save 2-3 minutes each time hot water is needed. This might not sound like a lot, but it certainly adds up to a lot of saved time throughout the week.
Imagine you’ve got 10 employees and each one makes 3 hot drinks in a day. That’s a total of 90 minutes per day saved across all employees, adding up to a lot more productive working time. It’ll also save employees time on their lunch break, allowing them to fully enjoy their break rather than standing around waiting for a kettle to boil.
Hot water dispensers are energy efficient
Compared to electric kettles, hot water dispensers are really energy efficient. They use less energy to heat water than kettles do, and kettles can lose a great deal of heat through their walls, leading to wasted energy. Greater energy efficiency helps to save your company money and is also good for your reputation as an eco-friendly organization.
They’re safe to use
You might be worried about the dangers of having hot water available on tap, especially if you’re considering installing a hot water dispenser for a family home water service. Don’t worry, because you can get hot water dispensers that are installed with safety locks. This will prevent you from releasing hot water from the tap unless you intend to do so.
Water coolers, hot water dispensers, and water delivery are all great ways to keep your employees happy, healthy, and productive while they’re at work. Contact Mountain Park Spring Water for more information about our water delivery service.

5 Ways Water Can Help You Stick to New Year’s Resolutions

How are your New Year’s Resolutions going? If you’re like most of society, you set out super ambitious goals at the start of the year and are already close to giving up. It doesn’t matter what the month is, you can set or refocus on goals at any time of the year. If you want it to stick this time, then upping your water intake can help with lots of different goals. Let’s look at some of the standard New Year’s Resolutions people make and how water can help you get there.
Water can help you stick to your New Year’s Resolution because it can…
Help you lose weight
A lot of people pledge to lose weight on January 1st, but they struggle to stick to it because they set excessively strict rules for themselves. You should try to lose weight gradually, and water can help with this. Obviously, water is a healthy alternative to sugary drinks, stopping you from drinking lots of calories. It can also help to control your appetite if you drink water before and during meals, preventing you from overeating.
Improve your body shape
Maybe you’re ignoring the number on the scale but still, want to get in better shape. It might sound counterintuitive, but you’ll be more prone to bloating if you don’t drink enough water. Staying well-hydrated with water means you don’t retain as much of the water you drink, keeping your stomach looking flatter.
Save you moneyIf your goals for 2019 are financial, then you can save money on expensive coffees, alcoholic drinks, and endless sodas by switching them all out for water. Even just a few dollars a day saved on drinks adds up to good savings throughout the year.
Improve focus and productivity
Maybe you’ve set goals related to school, work, or pursuing something in your spare time. Staying hydrated helps your brain to function more effectively, helping you to stay focused when you’re working. It also improves your energy levels, making you more productive overall.
Provide an alternative to alcohol
If you want to drink less alcohol or none at all, then water is a great alternative for your health and your wallet. When you’re out with friends you might still want a drink in your hand – why not a glass of water! If you’re just planning on drinking less, having a glass of water in between alcoholic drinks will help you cut down and reduce your hangover at the same time.
What’s your New Year’s Resolution? Whether you’re starting a new goal or are still going strong with those from January 1st, drinking more water could be the answer to continuing your success.
To make sure you always have fresh water to hand, you could get a filtered water delivery service to your home or office. Mountain Park Spring Water provide bottled water delivery across Virginia and North Carolina, including Martinsville, Danville, Greensboro, and High Point.

How Purified Bottled Water Can Help Fight Colds and Flu this Winter

Have you fallen to cold and flu season? Whether you’re trying to recover from these common winter illnesses or are trying to avoid catching them, good old purified water should be on your list of natural “medications”.
Why hydration is so important during cold and flu season
Hydration is always important, but when you’re ill or everyone around you seems to be getting ill, it’s even more important. When you’re well-hydrated, it’s easier for your body to transport vital nutrients around to where they are needed, which can help you to recover faster. It also relieves symptoms such as headaches, diarrhea, and vomiting.
Staying hydrated also helps to strengthen your immune system and keep everything in good working order, making your body more effective at fighting off colds and flu.
If you’re looking for the best ways to stay hydrated with purified bottled water or just some more interesting ways, then here are some simple ideas.
Hot drinks
Hot drinks feel like a lifesaver when you’re sick. Whether you reach for a tea, coffee, hot chocolate, or warm fruit juices, they seem to instantly make you feel better. While they may have a psychological effect on how we feel, they also help to physically ease symptoms of congestion and a sore throat.
Green tea made with purified water is especially a great choice because the green tea is filled with antioxidants that boost your immune system. Adding lemon, honey, or ginger to your tea can also be beneficial.
Infused drinking waterInfusing purified water with fruits and vegetables can be a great way to encourage you to drink more if you get bored of the taste of plain water. You can buy water bottles that are designed for infusing your water, or you can simply place fruit or veg into your regular bottle, glass, or jug of water.
Depending on what you infuse your water with, there are a variety of health benefits. Oranges and lemons are great for colds because they’re packed full of vitamin C. Berries are great for adding antioxidants to your water and your diet.
The OG purified water
Purified water is perfect for the above drinks because it is generally considered to have no taste. This means you can enjoy the taste of your tea, juices, or infused water without the water affecting it.
There’s nothing wrong with drinking water, plain and simple, to stay hydrated during flu season. If you’re not a fan of tap water, then a purified water delivery service is a great way to have fresh water readily available in your home at all times, serving as a great reminder to keep drinking.
Purified or filtered water delivery is the best way to stay hydrated when you don’t feel like getting off the couch to go to the grocery store. Contact us for our home water service across North Carolina and Virginia.
